I am writing to update you about the payment issues which came to the University鈥檚 attention last year.

As you may recall, in July 2024 I wrote to our community about two payment issues relating to unprocessed casual timesheets and on-call allowances.

Since then, we have been working with KPMG to calculate the payments owed to each staff member.

These calculations were more complex than we originally estimated, which in turn affected the timeframes. We also needed to build new capability in our backend HR system to manage this work. I apologise unreservedly for the delay.

But we have made progress.

I can let you know that we have completed the calculations for outstanding timesheet payments for Casual Sessional Academics, and we are continuing to work with KPMG to complete calculations for the remaining impacted staff. Earlier today we sent communications to these staff to provide an update, and further details can be found on our .

We鈥檒l start making payments to Casual Sessional Academic staff from 7 July 2025, commencing with staff that are still employed with the University. Staff who have left the University will be given information on how to update their details to have this payment made.

We will continue to keep our community and Fair Work Ombudsman informed as this work progresses .
